My idea of Portraiture is to approach  the individual from a unique and personal perspective. I attempt to get to know the essence of the person I am painting and show that through their eyes. I also choose to bring a different slant to the painting. For instance, the portrait of Heinz displays his current persona and another that he identifies with- Joan of Arch. You can call this a portrait combined with a Soul portrait.
